I've recently updated the events page so check it out.
For those of you who weren't
able to come last time, I'm organising another trip to view the Origins
Of The Afro Comb exhibition on Saturday 14th September.
It will be another small/medium sized group >here<, so places are limited. Please email me ASAP if you'd like to be put on the list.
PRICE
The exhibition itself is FREE but the cost of travelling to Cambridge can vary.
The price of travelling as a group is just £12 per person.
Allow me to emphasis that £12 is not only cheaper than some natural hair events, but cheaper than a lot of products too!
Why Isn't The Exhibition In London?
Simply put the only Academic with the passion, drive and means to put something of this scale on, happens to reside in Cambridge, but with enough support and demand, there is a possibility that maybe one day it could be brought to London - but that's up to you guys to make enough noise where it counts.
So
PLEASE DONT WAIT FOR OCTOBER - BLACK HISTORY IS SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT'S SQUEEZED INTO ONE MONTH!!
Besides the fact that I believe the exhibition is an absolutely
essential day out for educating ourselves about Black history, the other
reason for organising this September trip is that one of the rooms
containing the art installation My Hair - Black Culture Style & Politics
by the Artist Michael McMillan, is closing at the end of September on
the 28th. (The main display continues at the Fitzwilliam Museum until
November 3rd.)
I know the
reason a lot of people like myself start blogging is because the lack of
representation frustrates us. This exhibition is largely a community
based effort - a platform for us as people of African decent, largely by US! So I encourage you to claim it, and use it, by representing for your history.
Remember the
more demand/interest there is in this exhibition, the more chance we
have of getting it to London, so even if you can't make it on this trip,
please spread the word to your followers, friends and family.
"You might not have money, but you may have influence."

So spread the word and email me if you'd like to come:
