Natural Hair Product Shopping: Kinky Curly In London

NATURAL HAIR PRODUCT SHOPPING
-- KINKY CURLY HAS LANDED IN LONDON!!!! --

Last week I made a quick visit to Dalston with a shopping list as follows:
  • Shea Butter (from the market)

  • Lustersilk Cholesterol

  • A (cheap) Deep Conditioner
I was pretty successful and managed to tick off all the items for a total of about
£5.50
.

This trip wasn't about organic goodness, it was simply about getting the job done on a budget with basic products that I don't mind wasting. I prefer to save my best products for when I'm doing my hair with proper time and consideration.
I don't like wasting my favourite products on quick fix hair dos, and recently I've been so busy, I've had little time to do anything else.

I also treated myself to a few extra bits.
ORS HAIRepair Nourishing Conditioner £1, Turban £1.99,
Banana Clip £0.99

But the highlight of my morning has to be finding Kinky Curly Products on the shop shelf

***STOP THE FREAKIN' PRESS!!!!!***
***KINKY CURLY PRODUCTS ON THE SHELVES IN LONDON!!!***
I don't know if I'm late discovering this but I DO know I'm very VERY happy!
I bought into the YouTube "hype" around
Kinky Curly Knot Today - Leave In Conditioner
last year and I wasn't disappointed.

Whether you're into Kinky Curly Products or not, I definitely consider this a break through. My shopping experience just got some added variety and it could mean we're just moments away from seeing Shea Moisture, Original Moxie or even Entwined products here in the UK.
Sometimes it can be so frustrating watching my favourite State-side YouTubers talk about great products that are out of my reach, but maybe I wont have to wait for too much longer.

WHERE?
I spotted it in a shop called
Beauty Queen Cosmetics
40-42 Kingsland High Street Dalston, London E8
Next to McDonalds & Opposite Dalston/Kingsland Station

HOW MUCH?
The Kinky Curly Knot Today was
£12.99
I think the other products in the range were the same price.
Its about the same price as online, but minus the extra couple ££'s you'd pay for postage + packaging -"Every little helps."
Have you spotted Kinky Curly anywhere else in the UK?

  1. They also sell Kinky Curly products at:

Zara Hair and Cosmetics,395 Walworth Road, SE17 2AW

This is where I buy my Knot Today for £12.95. Sorry for commenting sooo late, I don't know how I missed this post. I hope I helped out a fellow UK naturalista anyway

  2. It's on the kinky curly website. The Dalston place isn't official, and don't seem to be replenishing stock (they're also rude). I'd recommend Zara's for at least acknowledging the importance of the natural hair market (guy behind the counteR asked if I'd be doing a twist out!)

  3. Lol, I went to Zara's this morning and couldn't believe it when I saw the kinky curly range. I googled 'kinky curly products uk' to find any relevant natural hair blog AND SHOUT ABOUT IT!!, but looks like i'm late anyway :-)

I have to say, the Asian guy who assisted me has obviously done his homework, asking if I knew my hair type and how long I'd been natural - EVEN THO I'M WEARING A WEAVE CAP. I guess the amount of time I spent looking at the Shea butter and the list of ingredients was a bit of a giveaway.

  4. Also, nearly forgot to mention, they also sell Giovanni leave-in conditioner and shampoo. This may be old news to some, but I had no idea these brands were available off the shelf here in the UK. I bought the Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo for £12.95 (236ml/8oz, or £5.48 per 100ml), and a teeny size Giovanni leave-in for £2.49 (60ml/2fl oz, or £4.16 per 100ml).

As my hair is so short at the mo and covered by a weave cap, at the moment I only co-wash with Hello Hydration twice a week and shampoo once a month. If I remember too, I might stop back here and let you know how I found it.

    1. Really!! I never realised they sold Giovanni products (but I havent been there in a while). I usually buy Giovanni leave-in from Whole Foods at Clapham Junction. I DO know Zara's also sell a range of Bee Mine products as well.

I don't know about other areas, but it seems south London is catching up with natural hair products. So far I can purchase brands such as:

Curls, Taliah Waajid, Mixed Chicks, Mixed Roots,Tropic Island, Miss Jessies, Sunny Isle, Aubrey Organics, ORS curls unleashed, Beautiful Textures, Giovanni, Bee Mine and Kinky Curly. ALL IN STORE!!
